PhotonDelta Welcomes Eelko Brinkhoff in the Role of CEO
Eelko Brinkhoff will resign from his position as the Managing Director of Foreign Investments & International Trade at the Brabant Development Agency (BOM), effective February 1, 2024. Following this announcement, he will transition to assume the role of CEO at PhotonDelta, based in Eindhoven.
This announcement follows a few months after the decision of the current CEO, Ewit Roos, to step down and take on the role of General Partner at PhotonVentures, a deeptech VC firm in Eindhoven. Roos played a pivotal role during his eight-year tenure, fostering the evolution of PhotonDelta into a well-funded integrated photonics industry accelerator boasting over 60 corporate members and a global presence.
Eelko Brinkhoff, a key figure at BOM since joining in 1999, progressed through various roles, commencing as a project manager for foreign investments and eventually assuming the position of Director of Foreign Investments in 2014. Since 2017, he has held the role of Managing Director of Foreign Investments & International Trade, overseeing trade promotion, among other responsibilities.
Born in 1973 and a graduate in commercial economics from Fontys in Eindhoven, Brinkhoff’s integral twenty-four-year tenure at BOM has been marked by his significant contributions. Besides his role at BOM, Brinkhoff serves as a member of the supervisory & advisory board of Nederland Distributieland and holds a board position at Dilas (Dutch Industrial & Logistics Association).
Reflecting on his years at BOM, Brinkhoff expressed gratitude for the challenges presented in driving impactful changes for companies within North Brabant. He views these experiences as a solid foundation upon which to build the promising ecosystem of PhotonDelta.
Laurens Weers, the CFO at PhotonDelta, expressed confidence in Brinkhoff’s suitability for the position, citing his combined experiences in business and government, aligned with the technological environment that characterizes the Brabant Development Agency. Weers highlighted the impending international growth within their industry and Brinkhoff’s timely entry into the organization.
