Claudia Cordioli is the new Zurich Insurance Group CFO

Zurich Insurance Group announced Claudia Cordioli’s appointment as Group Chief Financial Officer effective March 1, 2024, subject to regulatory approval. She will succeed George Quinn, who served as Group CFO for a decade and has decided to step down. Mr. Quinn will oversee Zurich’s 2023 Annual Results and ensure a seamless transition.

Mario Greco, Group CEO, expressed his enthusiasm about Claudia’s appointment, highlighting her extensive experience across finance and business functions and her track record of delivering impactful results, building effective teams, and driving change. He acknowledged George Quinn’s significant contributions, emphasizing Zurich’s robust financial position, including its strong SST, balance sheet, and ratings, and wished Quinn continued success in his future endeavors.

Cordioli joins Zurich from Swiss Re, where she held various finance and business roles for the past two decades. Her recent tenure involved serving as Group Finance Director, overseeing core finance functions, and leading the Group’s transition to IFRS 17. Additionally, she held the role of CFO for the Reinsurance business unit from 2020 to 2022. Previously, Claudia led Swiss Re’s reinsurance business in 15 countries as Head of Western & Southern Europe. Before her tenure at Swiss Re, she held positions in consulting firms, including KPMG. Cordioli is a Fellow of the Aspen Institute Finance Leaders Fellowship and an active member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

George Quinn, who joined Zurich in 2014 as Group CFO and Executive Committee member, played a pivotal role in transforming Zurich’s financial standing. Over the last decade, his contributions aided Mario Greco, Zurich’s Group Chief Executive Officer for the last eight years, in fortifying Zurich’s position as a leading insurer and bolstering the company’s capitalization. Zurich experienced robust growth and delivered superior shareholder returns under Quinn’s leadership.
