Richard Emery Succeeds Takashi Suda as President and CEO of Hino Australia
Hino Australia has disclosed that Richard Emery is set to take over as President and CEO of Hino Australia, succeeding Takashi ‘Sam’ Suda, starting February 1, 2024.
With a career spanning over thirty years in sales, marketing, and business development within the automotive and trucking industry, Mr. Emery arrives with substantial experience. He most recently served as Hino’s Vice President of Brand and Franchise Development. Prior to this, he held the positions of CEO and Managing Director at Nissan Australia and held senior roles at Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, Audi, and Land Rover. His involvement in industry bodies includes being a board member of the FCAI (Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries) and representing Hino at the Truck Industry Council.
Mr. Suda expressed confidence in Emery’s abilities, emphasizing his leadership skills and strong connections with dealer partners. Suda, who will retire after a 40-year career at Toyota and Hino, including a five-year tenure as President & CEO of Hino Australia, praised Emery’s leadership and management during challenging periods, including navigating the COVID lockdowns and achieving record sales in 2021.
In his appreciation for Suda’s leadership, Emery highlighted Suda’s role in steering Hino Motor Sales Australia through challenging times. Suda’s tenure oversaw the establishment of Hino Australia’s new Parts Distribution Centre and the introduction of significant models like the all-new 500 Series Standard Cab and 700 Series, along with the market-leading telematics platform, Hino Connect.
Emery expressed gratitude for Suda’s exceptional leadership and looks forward to continuing collaboration with the Hino dealership network and head office team to strengthen the business model for sustainability and resilience across different environments.
