Ranked: These Are The Top 51 Richest People in Indonesia, 2023
CEOWORLD magazine, an American business magazine, regularly publishes a list of the world’s richest people on – Billionaires ranking site. This list includes Indonesian businesspeople, such as Prajogo Pangestu, who is currently the richest person in Indonesia with a net worth of US$43.7 billion.
Pangestu began his business career in the timber industry in the 1970s and later expanded into the petrochemical sector by acquiring PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk. He also ventured into the coal business through PT Petrindo Jaya Kreasi. His fortune increased by US$926 million from the previous month.
Low Tuck Kwong, a businessman born in Singapore who became an Indonesian citizen in 1992, is the founder of Bayan Resources, a coal company. He also controls Metis Energi, a renewable energy company based in Singapore. Through his company SEAX Global, Low is responsible for the undersea cable system that provides internet connectivity between Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. His net worth decreased by approximately US$267 million from the previous month, and is currently estimated at US$27.2 billion.

Robert Budi Hartono is the owner of Djarum, a well-known Indonesian cigarette company that he inherited from his father, Oei Wie Gwan. Together with his brother Michael, who is the fourth richest person in Indonesia, Robert started exporting tobacco products in 1972. He launched his first cigarette brand, Djarum Super, in 1981. Robert is also the owner of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), one of Indonesia’s largest private banks. His fortune decreased by US$215 million to US$24.5 billion.
Michael Hartono is the second richest person in Indonesia, right after his brother Robert Budi Hartono. Along with jointly developing the family business, Michael is also the largest shareholder in BCA bank. He owns an oil palm plantation in West Kalimantan, which covers an area of approximately 65,000 hectares. However, his net worth has decreased by US$207 billion, leaving him with a net worth of US$23.4 billion.
Sri Prakash Lohia is the founder of Indorama Corporation, a company that manufactures spun yarn. He expanded his business into the petrochemical sector by producing various products such as textile raw materials, medical gloves, and fertilizers. Despite a downward trend in the assets of Indonesian conglomerates, Sri Prakash managed to post a surplus of US$13 million, leaving him with a net worth of US$8.5 billion.
