Stanbic Bank Appoints Ronald Makata to Serve as CFO

Ronald Makata has been appointed as the new Chief Finance and Value Management Officer at Stanbic Bank, following the departure of Abraham Ongenge, who returned to Kenya and assumed the role of Executive Head for Personal and Private Banking at the bank’s Kenyan unit.

Makata, previously serving as the bank’s Head of Treasury and Capital Management, brings 17 years of financial experience to his new position, with 13 of those years dedicated to Stanbic. His tenure at the bank includes various roles such as Head of Banking, Client Solutions, Financial Controller, and Manager responsible for financial reporting.

Stanbic acknowledged Makata for his leadership in driving several transformative projects, including the establishment of robust financial controls across Africa, the optimization of customer processes, and the execution of digitization initiatives.

Additionally, Anne Juuko, the Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic, highlighted Makata’s valuable contributions in mentoring and supporting young professionals within the organization.

Makata earned an MBA from Edinburgh Business School and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Makerere University. He is recognized as a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda.
