Oxford Instruments Welcomes Hill & Smith CFO Hannah Nichols to its Board

Oxford Instruments Plc, a leading provider of cutting-edge technology tools and systems, has disclosed the appointment of Hannah Nichols as an Independent Non-Executive Director, scheduled to commence in January 2024. Nichols presently serves as the Chief Financial Officer at Hill & Smith PLC, a role she has held since September 2019. She is acclaimed for her extensive financial acumen and demonstrated capability in effecting significant changes.

Nichols is set to contribute to various committees within Oxford Instruments, including the audit and risk committee. As of the announcement, she does not possess any shares in Oxford Instruments Plc. Her appointment underscores the company’s commitment to bolstering governance and oversight capabilities in the dynamic high-tech landscape.

Nichols’ appointment is poised to fortify Oxford Instruments’ board with her profound insight into global finance and strategic operations. Her illustrious career includes pivotal positions at BT Group (LON: BT) plc and Cable & Wireless plc, offering a wealth of experience in commercial functions and strategic development across global markets. She holds a Classics degree from Cambridge University and is a chartered accountant certified by Arthur Andersen.

Neil Carson, Chair of Oxford Instruments, commended Nichols’ established track record in steering financial leadership and transformative initiatives. He expressed confidence in her ability to complement the board’s existing strengths in technology and services tailored for industrial companies and scientific researchers.

The market responded positively to Nichols’ inclusion on the Oxford Instruments board, with a 1.65% surge in Oxford Instruments shares observed today. Additionally, Hill & Smith shares saw an increase, reaching 1,870.00p with a 1.5% gain post the announcement.
