Manuel Sansigre Succeeds James Johnston at Penguin Random House Following His Retirement

Manuel Sansigre has been appointed as the global Chief Financial Officer of Penguin Random House, succeeding James Johnston, who is retiring after 33 years at the company. Additionally, Divya Sawhney, previously Head of Global Strategy, has been promoted to Chief Strategy Officer.

Sansigre will assume his new position on January 1, 2024, reporting directly to the global CEO, Nihar Malaviya. Having joined PRH eight years ago, Sansigre has significantly contributed by driving over 30 investments in publishing houses and intellectual property assets worldwide, as communicated in a staff announcement.

Sawhney, who joined Penguin Random House almost a decade ago, has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s growth and strategic trajectory. In her expanded role, Sawhney and her team will collaborate closely with management and strategy teams at both global and local levels to drive growth initiatives.

PRH praised Johnston as an indispensable and dedicated contributor to the growth and success of both Random House and Penguin Random House. He held the position of CFO since 2018.

Malaviya’s statement highlighted Johnston’s collaborative and considerate nature, acknowledging his profound understanding of the company’s operations and expressing personal regret at losing his guidance, a sentiment shared across the company.
