Howard Hammond is the new CEO of City National Bank while Kelly Coffey Becomes CEO of City National Entertainment

City National Bank has appointed seasoned banker Howard Hammond as its CEO, while Kelly Coffey assumes the role of CEO of City National Entertainment. This transition, effective Nov. 27, stems in part from City National’s strategic decision to enhance its focus on the entertainment sector, spanning TV, film, music, theater, touring, and related industries.

JaHan Wang, the executive VP of entertainment banking, will continue reporting to Coffey. Martha Henderson, a seasoned CNB professional, retains her position as vice chairman of entertainment banking.

Coffey, who has been City National’s CEO since 2019, joining from JPMorgan’s private wealth management division, expressed her dedication to client-centric values, emphasizing the dynamic nature of the entertainment industry. She looks forward to closely collaborating with clients and contributing to City National’s commitment to staying at the forefront of industry advancements.

Hammond, joining City National Bank from Fifth Third Bancorp, where he held the position of executive VP and head of consumer banking, now reports to Greg Carmichael, City National Bank’s executive chair. Carmichael praised Coffey’s impact over the past five years, highlighting her client-centric approach as a cornerstone of the bank’s culture.

Carmichael believes Coffey’s new role will build on City National’s 70-year legacy in supporting the entertainment community. In addition to becoming CNB’s CEO, Hammond will also join the board of directors and sit on the executive committee of RBC’s U.S. holding company.

Expressing enthusiasm for the role, Hammond acknowledged City National’s stellar reputation for prioritizing clients, colleagues, and communities. He looks forward to collaborating with Greg, Kelly, and the leadership team to strengthen City National’s position and guide the business into the future.
