Tubi Brings Sameer Balgi to Serve as CFO
Tubi has appointed Sameer Balgi as its new Chief Financial Officer. Balgi, a former executive at Amazon, brings a wealth of experience to this role. He served as the CFO of Freevee, Amazon’s FAST service, and was also the Head of Finance for Prime Video’s U.S. Marketplace business. His tenure at Tubi began on November 6.
Anjali Sud, the CEO of Tubi, expressed her confidence in Sameer Balgi, noting that he stood out during the selection process due to his expertise in ad-supported video-on-demand and streaming, his track record in driving efficiency and scale and his solutions-oriented approach. Balgi expressed his excitement about joining Tubi during a pivotal moment for the company.
In September, Tubi achieved a 1.3 percent share of all TV viewing, as per Nielsen ratings. Sameer Balgi’s appointment at Tubi coincides with Anjali Sud taking on the role of CEO in September.
Tubi, the free, ad-supported video-on-demand service owned by Fox, is part of Fox’s Tubi Media group and offers an extensive library of over 200,000 movies and TV episodes, in addition to some original programming. It operates alongside other Fox subsidiaries like Credible, Blockchain Creative Labs, and digital platforms supporting Fox’s sports, news, and entertainment divisions.
Before joining Freevee, Balgi played key roles at Amazon Music during the launch of Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited. He also worked in the advertising department, focusing on sales finance and Amazon analytics. Earlier in his career, he led global strategy and upstream innovation planning at Procter & Gamble.
