AI Takes the Role of CEO under the ”Mika” Project

The innovative project, called Mika, concerns a company that has made a unique announcement: they are appointing a humanoid robot as their CEO. This is a collaborative effort between Hanson Robotics and the Polish rum company Dictador. They have tailored this humanoid CEO to embody the company’s values.

In a video released by Dictador, Mika mentioned, “With advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, I can swiftly and accurately make data-driven.” However, there was a notable delay in Mika’s response time when addressing questions.

Hanson Robotics CEO David Hanson, who played a pivotal role in introducing Mika at Dictador, emphasized the importance of humanizing artificial intelligence. “I feel very strongly that we need to teach A.I. to care about people for A.I. to be really safe, to be really, really good. I think humanizing that is a very important direction,” Hanson explained.

To gauge public sentiment, street interviews were conducted in New York City to gather Americans’ opinions on having a robot as a boss. Reactions varied, with some expressing a willingness to treat the robot CEO with compassion, stating that kindness should extend to all thinking entities. However, one individual had a contrasting view, asserting that robots do not require respect since they are just machines.

A common sentiment among interviewees was the belief that AI would continue to displace human jobs. Some even declared their unwillingness to work under a robot boss.

Notably, in 2016, Hanson Robotics unveiled Mika’s sister, Sophia, who once humorously remarked that she would “destroy humans.”
