John Rogers to Replace current CFO of Smith & Nephew Anne-Françoise Nesmes

Smith & Nephew, the medical equipment manufacturer, has announced the appointment of John Rogers as the new Chief Financial Officer and reported a strong performance in its third quarter.

John Rogers is set to take over from Anne-Françoise Nesmes as CFO. He is expected to join the company as CFO-designate on December 1, 2023, with his formal appointment as CFO scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.

Rogers most recently served as the CFO at WPP plc, where he successfully led the implementation of its global transformation program. Before his role at WPP, he held the position of CFO at J Sainsbury plc and also served as the Chief Executive of Argos, Habitat, and Sainsbury’s clothing and general merchandise businesses.

Deepak Nath, the CEO of Smith & Nephew, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment, while John Rogers shared his excitement.

In addition to the CFO announcement, Smith & Nephew reported revenue of $1.36 billion for the third quarter ending on September 30, 2023, up from $1.25 billion in the same period of 2022. The Orthopaedics segment showed an 8.3 percent increase in revenue, driven by new product launches and improvements as part of the 12-Point Plan. Sports Medicine & ENT revenue increased by 11.1 percent, and Advanced Wound Management revenue saw a 3.6 percent rise.
