Jens Schmale Takes the Helm of Swisslog in the role of CEO
Swisslog has announced Jens Schmale as its next CEO, effective from January 1, 2024. Jens Schmale currently serves as the CEO of Swisslog EMEA and brings extensive experience in the logistics sector to his new leadership role. Swisslog delivers data-driven and robotic solutions. As a part of the KUKA Group, Swisslog boasts a team of more than 14,000 dedicated employees worldwide.
Jens, who is 49 years old, joined Swisslog in 2020 and initially oversaw the company’s AutoStore business unit. He later assumed the position of CEO for Swisslog EMEA in September 2021. Prior to joining Swisslog, Jens held various senior leadership positions with prominent logistics providers.
The current CEO of Swisslog, Antonio Trioschi, has expressed his intention to retire by the end of the year, leading to this change in leadership. Antonio leaves behind a legacy of achievements, including spearheading transformative initiatives that contributed to business growth, financial improvements, and customer-focused innovations.
Peter Mohnen, CEO of KUKA, expresses his confidence in Jens to build upon Antonio’s accomplishments, saying, “I want to extend my profound appreciation to Antonio for his outstanding leadership and dedication. Under his leadership, Swisslog has achieved incredible milestones for its customers. Jens has demonstrated his leadership expertise as the CEO of Swisslog EMEA and is well-equipped to build on this strong foundation and usher in a new chapter of success.”
In his role as the new Chief Executive Officer of Swisslog, Jens Schmale’s primary strategic focus will be on elevating the customer experience and fortifying the company’s relationships with its clients and partners. Jens remarks, “I am excited to steer Swisslog on the path to growth and seize opportunities to exceed customer expectations. I will also be concentrating on ensuring Swisslog remains a great place to work by fostering stronger collaboration and, ultimately, creating added value for our customers.”
Giulia Colombi, 38 years old, will assume the leadership of Swisslog EMEA. Giulia possesses experience across various business areas, working closely with customers and expanding into new markets. Her career at Swisslog began as a Market Segment Sales Manager, leading the Design and Consulting team and, more recently, overseeing the transformation of this department into Design and Engineering.
Jens has full confidence in Giulia’s abilities as his successor in the current role, stating, “Giulia will make an excellent leader of the Swisslog EMEA region. I am confident that she will play an important part in driving the continued growth and success of Swisslog within the EMEA region.”
