Andrew Brown the new CEO of the Pasadena Symphony
The Pasadena Symphony and POPS announced the appointment of a new CEO, Andrew Brown. Brown will assume his role on November 13, coinciding with the commencement of the 96th season of the long-established Pasadena Symphony.
This selection was made public by the Board of Directors on October 4, following a comprehensive search process conducted with the assistance of the Arts Consulting Group. Brown brings a wealth of experience to this position, boasting two decades of leadership in the performing arts sector. Notably, he served as the CEO of the Pacific Chorale for the past five years, during which the Chorale achieved a significant milestone by winning its first Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance in 2021.
In his capacity as CEO, Brown will oversee the management of the Pasadena Symphony and will play a pivotal role in the search for a new Music Director. Additionally, he will be responsible for the Pasadena POPS, led by Principal Pops Conductor Michael Feinstein, and the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestras, which serve a student community of over 700 in the San Gabriel Valley.
Prior to his role with the Pacific Chorale, Brown held the position of Chief Operating Officer at the LA Master Chorale from 2016 to 2019. During this time, he played a crucial role in the Master Chorale’s transition into a fully professional chorus and orchestra. His contributions included overseeing the production of the 2018 Big Sing California event and serving as executive producer for the highly acclaimed first world tour of Lagrime di San Pietro, directed by Peter Sellars.
Expressing his enthusiasm for this new role, Brown stated, “I am deeply honored to be named the next CEO of the Pasadena Symphony and POPS during a time of exciting transition for the organization. It is a tremendous opportunity to jump into the search for the orchestra’s next Music Director and to work closely with Principal Pops Conductor Michael Feinstein to shepherd the artistic vision of this incredibly talented ensemble.”
Furthermore, the Pasadena Symphony and POPS announced the election of Kimberly S. Winick as the President of the Board of Directors, beginning with the 23/24 Season. Winick has been an integral part of the Board for over a decade, serving in various capacities, including director at large, co-chair of the CEO Search Committee, and vice president of investments.
In her new role, Winick expressed her excitement, stating, “The Pasadena Symphony and POPS is in the midst of a vibrant rejuvenation. I am honored and thrilled to serve as President of the Board as we welcome Andrew Brown as our new CEO, select a new Music Director, and set off on new musical adventures. With familiar venues and new faces, I look forward to keeping our audiences sustained and excited to enjoy all that we offer as we look to a bright future.”
