Anabelle Chua is the new Independent Director at Monde Nissin

Former PLDT Inc. Chief Financial Officer Anabelle Chua has assumed the role of an Independent Director at Monde Nissin Corp., where she will head the audit committee of the prominent food manufacturing company.

Monde also welcomed Nina Perpetua Aguas as the Lead Independent Director, a member of the Board’s Executive Committee, and the Chair of the Risk and Related Party Transactions Committee. Additionally, the company appointed Daniel Teichert as the Chief Risk Management Officer.

Monde Nissin Corp., known for producing Lucky Me! Instant noodles and SkyFlakes Crackers, made the announcement in a disclosure on Friday, indicating that Chua has taken over from Romeo Bernardo, who recently joined the Monetary Board.

In her capacity as a director, Chua serves as the Chair of the Board’s Audit Committee and is also a member of the Board’s Risk and Related Party Transactions Committee, as well as the Corporate Governance, Nominations, and Remuneration Committee.

Chua decided to take early retirement from PLDT in April after more than 20 years of service, following the telecom company’s P48-billion budget issues. PLDT subsequently clarified that there was no fraud involved.

Following the news of Chua’s appointment at Monde, the company’s shares rose by 4.09 percent to P9.17 each on Friday. In the first half of the year, Monde reported a nearly 18 percent decline in net income primarily due to restructuring costs in the meat alternative business. The company noted that sales slowed during the second quarter as consumer prices increased.
