Rick LeLacheur Rejoins CFL as the Interim President and CEO of Edmonton Elks
Rick LeLacheur is making a return to the CFL to take up the position of Edmonton Elks president and chief executive officer on an interim basis.
LeLacheur recently moved back to Edmonton after his term as president of the B.C. Lions. LeLacheur was approached by Edmonton after parting ways with Victor Cui. LeLacheur’s appointment was unexpected but welcomed during a news conference at Commonwealth Stadium. The separation from Cui was announced on August 15 and was described as the outcome of ongoing discussions about the club’s future.
LeLacheur, who previously served as Edmonton’s president and CEO from 2002 to 2011 and later as the B.C. Lions’ president brings credibility and experience to the role. He is committed to working with the Elks for four months and plans to assess both the football and business sides of the organization before implementing changes. He emphasized that he won’t be a candidate for the permanent CEO position and wants to focus on improving the game day experience for fans. The search for a permanent CEO has already begun.
