Unilever Chief Executive Alan Jope Named to Accenture Board

Alan Jope, chief executive officer of Magnum-to-Marmite consumer goods giant Unilever, has joined Accenture’s global board of directors. As a Non-Executive Director, he will sit alongside nine other experts, including CHAIR & CEO Julie Sweet.

Alan Jope to retire: Mr. Jope, 59, is the CEO of Unilever (LSE: ULVR). Alan Jope has informed the Unilever Board of his intention to retire from the company at the end of 2023, after five years in the role. Jope’s departure at end of 2023 will end career spanning 37 years at Marmite and Dove soap maker.

“Alan is a dynamic leader with vast expertise in the consumer goods industry and deep experience driving change through sustainable business at a global scale,” said Julie Sweet, chair and CEO, Accenture.

She added, “Alan will bring valuable perspective and insight to our board and our company as we continue to execute on our strategy and create 360° value for all our stakeholders.”  Julie Sweet was recently ranked No. 184 in a list of the world’s best CEOs for 2023.

Alan Jope holds a BA Hons in Commerce from Edinburgh University and graduated from Harvard Business School’s General Management Program in 2001. Recently, he was appointed visiting fellow at the University of Oxford.
