5 Common Things a Movie Can Offer

Movies are very popular, and people of all ages and ethnicities love them. Comedies, romance, horror, fiction, mystery, and all kinds of films are being produced yearly, leading the industry to grow more and more. Everyone has a favorite type they like, but regardless of what kinds of movies people prefer to see, all movies have something to give to the audience. Today we will discuss why they have been so embraced and if their effect is so positive after all.

  1. Disconnection from the surrounding

While we watch a movie, we can let ourselves take a short mental journey for a while. How a movie is built will usually allow us to identify ourselves with the heroes and the situation that is described and, in some way, disconnect from the reality we live in. This is useful because it can make us relax and escape from reality that may not be ideal. It is also a fact that they can make us laugh or feel pleasant relatively quickly. In other words, they entertain us and make us relax.

  2. You can watch it with friends or alone

People often gather at home to enjoy a movie together, which is a perfect opportunity to socialize. A film can also be watched in the movie theater when combined with the week’s treat for yourself and acts as a chance to go out with friends.
Even though when the movie is being played, we cannot talk, it offers many subjects to discuss when it ends. The good thing is that you can equally enjoy it if you want to stay alone and are not in the mood to socialize. In any case, the movie will be good company for you.

  3. Suggesting role models

Movies also present the main character, who is usually the ”good” one and a repulsive character. The director usually implies who is the one we should imitate and who is the opposite. A movie will often be found to pass positive messages to the audience by using those characters and their stories that people find amusing. Indirectly, movies have more power than we think.
Today more and more movies try to be politically correct. It has not always been that way, but the movie industry is affected by what society wants and follows the trends people create. There is a balance between what a movie suggests and where the role models originated.

  4. Bringing awareness and educating people

There are not a few cases when movies talk about social topics. They show us different cultures and sceneries in nature we have never seen. In any form, a film can be educational and show a variety of things we are unaware of. Usually, it is a social reflection of the world. It gives a clue about the difficulties and challenges other people face. The audience can understand the behavior of people they know in real life once someone explains to them the problems they have, and movies come to play that role.

  5. The famous catharsis
One of the most incredible things in a movie is the famous catharsis effect. Catharsis was the gist of ancient Greek theater and appeared in most tragedies. Similarly, nowadays, directors and filmmakers ensure that catharsis will exist in a film.
Most movies are based on a story. The existence of the story is vital for the structure of the movie. It usually starts with the presentation of the characters and the problems they have to face. A problem has a critical role in the movie, and it can justify the whole work that the director will do. The problem comes as a motivation to find solutions, and when the solution comes, the audience becomes relieved.
When we watch a movie, we identify ourselves with its heroes and become them for a little while. When they find solutions to their problems, we find solutions, too, and this is where we feel relieved. The fact that the movies activate our emotions involves us feeling a part of the situation and helps us connect with the characters.
