How Tourism Has Benefited Countries All Over The World
If you ask most people what they would like to do if they had a lot of money, they would probably say they would travel the world. Traveling demands three things. The one is that you have a proper budget. The other one is that you have the time to do it, and the last one is having no serious obligations to which you have to be committed back at home. If all these three parameters are fulfilled, you are good to go. But how did this gain so much ground, and why did society embrace it so much?
- Reconstruction of city centers and tourist spots
One of the things a country must do to attract tourists is to make sure everything is nice and clean. Imagine you travel thousands of miles and reach a destination where all you see is trash around the streets. You wouldn’t go again, right? This is what businessmen have in mind, and this is how they decide to improve their place. We often say that visiting the tourist places of a country is far more different than visiting the rest of the country where poverty is present, and ugliness is a fact. Many countries that hosted big events like the Olympic Games or the World Cup had the chance to renovate the center and turn it into a nice spot.
In some cases, people protest because renovation means that government will spend money on buildings instead of people. How a country will handle its finances and whether it will implement strict rules to avoid corruption is a matter of political will and social justice. However, the fact that the city centers have become prettier is true, which is why people love them. - More jobs for people and income generation
Tourism is an industry, and like every industry, it leaves room for profit for everyone, and it is a very profitable industry. You may be shocked to hear that 10% of the jobs in the world are sourced from the tourist section. It is where people spend the money they earn from their regular jobs or business activities and a fun way to reshare the wealth in the world. Besides, when tourists visit a country, local businessmen will do their best to create opportunities so that tourists will spend their money. Amusement parks are a perfect example. They may not be considered tourist investments, but they are strictly related to the people that move around the city.
Often locals do not have the budget to spend so much money in their hometowns. A person who lives at its place will spend a particular amount of money to live there. When the same person goes as a tourist to another city or country, they will spend much more money in a shorter period of time. This money is absorbed by the local community and distributed to the workers of the tourist section, leaving a considerable profit for the investors and the whole community. - Conservation of historical and natural sites
Another part of tourists loves to visit historical sites. Some countries such as Italy and many places in Europe have preserved their monuments in excellent condition. The result is outstanding. Europe attracts thousands of tourists yearly because walking on the streets of Rome and Paris, for example, is like living in a fairytale in the 18th century. Still, other countries only had the luxury to focus on the conservation of their unique identity once tourism appeared on the map. The profits that come from this industry have created a motivation for the governments to find the money for the preservation of not only the historical sites but also nature. Can you imagine how all these would have turned up now if it was not for tourists? Historical sites would be abandoned, and forests would be full of trash. This is vital because both have great meaning and wouldn’t have been respected otherwise.
