As travel becomes more and more popular, people do not have an alternative to what to do with kids when they go for a trip so they choose hotels and resorts that have activities for kids and specially trained people who will take care of them for a few hours every day. Both adult clients and kids have some expectations when they leave for vacation.

So how should the staff treat them? People who work in such facilities may be teachers of preschool education, entertainers, or even people who love kids and have experience around individuals of very young ages. Let’s see what they should take into consideration and what others should demand from them.

  1. Starting with imitation
    The best way to make a child learn is to let it do what you do. Without anyone asking them children imitate adults and other kids. Adults usually work as role models and prototypes that children like to pay attention to. It is more common for an adult to do something correctly and kids – clever as they are – they try to see how adults do stuff instead of imitating kids of the same age. So whatever the trainer does, this is the behavior the kids will adopt.

    Even if you try to be different when there are kids around you won’t be able to make it because kids have this strange talent to bring the authentic self out of you without even realizing it. So, let’s be honest, no one can fool kids. The next crucial thing that will help you save the situation is that children have a natural desire for learning. Combining the previous information, the best way to approach them is to be yourself and focus on the things they will be interested in learning and pass this knowledge through. A good idea is to think of an activity they are into and show them how to do it.

  2. DIY
    Children also love to be involved. They have spent enough time staying quiet in the classroom and when they go somewhere to have fun, they don’t want to sit back and watch how you do stuff. DIY stands for Do It Yourself and it is a concept that has been embraced by many people around the globe. If for example, the activity you have decided to share is cooking, the optimal way to do it is to have all the team in a clean kitchen and provide the stuff that you will need to cook to each child separately.

    The process starts with you showing them how to do it and then you will kindly supervise their own personal attempt to perform the same task. In the end, they will be happy for two reasons. They will have a tasty meal to eat plus they will have made it on their own.

  3. Talk and read
    If the kids that the trainer has to keep an eye on are very young, it is hard for them to be a part of the group in complex activities. At this point, you shouldn’t underestimate the power of reading fairy tales and telling stories. If the kids are very social and they don’t like to be listeners, try talking with them and focus the discussion on issues they care about.

    TVs and computers can be more appealing for kids, but we suggest you stay away from them. Screens are often provided as an easy solution to occupy a child. However, when the clients pay a significant amount of money on their holidays they are expecting something more, so computer games are like someone is trying to get rid of the children and it doesn’t sound like a good idea.

  4. Alternatives and socializing
    A successful professional should give children opportunities to socialize with kids of their age and provide alternatives whenever this is not possible. Organized activities that allow kids to communicate and encourage them to develop relationships are a perfect opportunity for fun.

    The more you let kids interact with each other the happier they will be, and this is how parents will evaluate the resort; judging by the result that will be pointed to their precious children’s faces.
