Best Golf Courses In The US
Golf is a game of club-and-ball where the players use numerous balls to hit into a series of holes potted at different locations on the golf course. The idea is to put the ball in the least number of strokes. A golf course can have from 9 to 18 holes, and the game durations vary from 2 hours to 4 hours, respectively. Golf is pretty popular in the USA; let’s have a look at some of the best golf courses in the country:
The pine valley is located in Pine Valley, NJ, and was designed back in 1918 by George Crump and Harry S. Colt. Pine valley excels in three main departments: the quality of the golf course property, the hazards, and the greens covering the area. At pine, you can jump whilst playing from one island of turf to another just around the rolling, sandy landscape. This golf course has been at the top for years now which in itself is a benchmark.
Cypress is located at the beautiful Pebble Beach, CA it was built in 1928 and was designed by Alister Mackenzie. This golf course is designed such that the players can easily enjoy their game as well as walk around the property. It has numerous highlights such as an iconic and most dramatic as well as a photographic hole, a forested portion that is famed for its jagged coastline. The golf course has back-to-back par-5s in the front of the course and back-to-back par-3s in the back of the course which again is another highlight of the course where the designer did something which is not a common sight for the game.
Situated in Southampton, NY, Shinnecock hills were built back in 1931 by William Flynn. This golf course has hosted five U.S. open since 1986. The most recent hosting was held in the year 2018. The work for the gold course started in the year 1928 and was not open to show until 1931; that did cause some depression in the opening of the golf course however it did not stop William from creating a golf course players would think twice to play on. William Flynn was given a large amount of land to design the golf course and he truly nailed it and created a masterpiece out of it.
National Golf Links In America
The National Golf Links in America is situated in Southampton, NY, and was built in the year 1911. National Golf Links in America also otherwise referred to as NGLA was designed by C.B. Macdonald. For this project, both C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor came together and created this golf course, which stands out as one of the marvelous strategic designs in history. There are holes in the course that are comparatively more superior to their names some of those being Alp’s 3rd, the Redan 4th, the Short 6th, etc.
Oakmont is situated in Oakmont, PA. It was built in the year 1903 and was designed by Henry Fownes. This course attracts players like magic. The beauty of Oakmont is just a distraction from what the course offers. The pursuit of the course to get a view from the crest of the hill on 15 is an eye-soothing experience for any player. The land where Oakmont is designed is barren and has no water, and a handful of trees still catches the players’ attention as being the meanest courses to play on. The course, in other words, is well known for being difficult.
