Profile- Business of Stars: Gisele Bundchen- The supermodel with business acumen

Her fame and success came from her own efforts and hard work. She is the wife of the American football quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League, Tom Brady. Gisele Bundchen was born in Tres de Maio, a small town in Brazil and she has been the highest-paid model in the world from 2002 to 2017. Bundchen is worth 400 million dollars.

She began modeling in 1995. She was only 14 years old. She started her career from Sao Paulo and in 1996 she had her first participation at New York Fashion Week. Gisele grew up with her five sisters, Raquel, Graziela, Gabriela, Rafaela and her fraternal twin, Patrícia. She dreamed to be a volleyball player. But the circumstances led her to the famous catwalks. In 1993 she joined a modeling course with her sisters Patrícia and Gabriela in hopes to correct her bad posture. The next year people from the Elite Model Management saw her at a shopping mall in Sao Paulo and after some talks she was selected for a national contest, Elite Model Look, in which she took second place. She collaborated with some of the most famous fashion designers, while in 2000 she made her debut as a Victoria’s Secret Angel.

Along with her career in fashion, she took advantage of various opportunities presented to her for business investments, which proved to be successful by increasing her bank account. In 2011, Gisele Bundchen launched Sejaa Pure Skincare, an eco-friendly line of beauty products that reflect her commitment to conserving environmental resources. She always wanted to develop a natural skin line with as little impact on the environment as possible. The skincare kit consists of three products. A day cream, a night cream and a mud mask. All these products promise to give a natural glow to women’s skin. It is said that her products put together (not only her skincare line but and other business activities) generate almost one billion dollars per year in sales.

She has also launched her own lingerie brand, Gisele Bundchen Brazilian Intimates, through a partnership with Hope, one of Brazil’s largest lingerie manufacturers.

In 2018, Bundchen published her first memoir, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life. She included all her life and her way of thinking and making decisions to this book. It became an instant New York Times Bestseller. At the book is included specific information about her career. For example, the book says that she has appeared in almost 400 advertising campaigns and on over 1200 magazine covers. Furthermore, readers will find out that she has walked in more than 470 fashion shows for the most influential brands in the world. In Lessons, she reveals for the first time who she really is and what she has learned from life. Readers learn for her childhood years when she was barefoot in a small-town in Brazil, till the time that an internationally successful career started for her. Also, she talks about motherhood and her marriage to quarterback Tom Brady.

In 2019, Gisele was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Environmental Program. Also, it is worth mentioning that in 2011 was ranked 60th on the Forbes list of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women. Many more honors followed in the recent years.
