These Are The Best Performing Universities Across 54 Academic Subject, 2018

As expected, Harvard University remains the best performing institution in the world for 2018 in the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy’s 2018 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS). Harvard scored NO. 1 in 17 academic subject categories, highlighting the breadth of impactful Harvard research.

In total, 1,600 universities were ranked in 5 different fields (natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences) across 54 different academic subject categories. The second best institution this year is Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) – topped in five different subjects: Physics; Electrical & Electronic Engineering; Computer Science & Engineering; Chemical Engineering; and Materials Science & Engineering.

Universities from the US have once again topped the tables, taking 35 of the top positions across the 54 subjects. The next best performing universities are from China, where eight institutions have taken first place, followed by the Netherlands, where three universities have been ranked in top positions.

Prof. Dr. Amarendra Bhushan Dhiraj is a publishing executive and economist who is the CEO and editor-in-chief of The CEOWORLD magazine, one of the world’s most influential and recognized global news publications. Additionally, he serves as the chair of the advisory board for the CEOWORLD magazine. He received his Ph.D. in Finance and Banking from the European Global School, Paris, France.
