List Of Top 25 International Research Institutions And Universities: CWTS Leiden Ranking 2015

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has been ranked number 1 in a list of international research institutions and universities for the quality of its research, with Harvard University in 2nd place, by the Centre for Science and Technology Studies at Leiden University in the Netherlands, known by its Dutch acronym CWTS.

According to the CWTS data, Massachusetts Institute of Technology published 10,040 scientific articles in 2010-2013, and these articles were cited no fewer than 148,837 times. Moreover, 2,486 of these articles – or 24.8% of the total “Massachusetts Institute of Technology” published during this period – were among the top 10 percent of all articles published worldwide in terms of their impact, as measured by how often they were cited.

400 Massachusetts Institute of Technology articles (or 4% of the total published during the period), made it into the top 1 percent in terms of impact, meaning they were among the most influential articles published worldwide in 2010-2013.

The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2015 focuses on the scientific performance of 750 research institutions worldwide for the years 2010-2013, as measured by the number of publications and their citations.
