Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) consistently performs well in multiple rankings. MSU placed No. 1 among Russian universities and No. 90 among all universities worldwide, according to the world’s top colleges and universities for 2019 QS World University Rankings. MSU was the only Russian university to make the top 100.
In total, 27 Russian universities are on a list of the world’s most prestigious academic institutions offering diplomas sought after by employers worldwide. Not all of the universities in Russia made the top 500; however, here are 15 Russian institutions which were included in the top five-hundred.
Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), has been recognized as the best university in Russia and No. 90 among all universities worldwide, according to the world’s top colleges and universities for 2019 QS World University Rankings, while Saint Petersburg State University and Novosibirsk State University placed second and third, respectively.
The 2019 rankings placed Tomsk State University in fourth in Russia ahead of Bauman Moscow State Technical University into fifth; while Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT / Moscow Phystech) ranked sixth, and National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) seventh.
Overall, among the top 10 best Russian universities, the eighth, ninth, and tenth positions are held by the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University), Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University), and National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University.
Peter the Great Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University took the No. 11 spot, followed by Ural Federal University (No.12) and Kazan (Volga region) Federal University (No.13).
Meanwhile, RUDN University ranked No. 14 in the ranking of the best Russian universities for 2019, followed by the National University of Science and Technology MISIS came in fifteenth place. Globally, MIT remains the world-leader for a record-breaking seventh consecutive year.
