Sukamal Banerjee Named CEO of Cyient to Lead Next Phase of Growth

Cyient has announced the appointment of Sukamal Banerjee as its Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a five-year term, effective February 19, 2025. Alongside his new role, Banerjee will be designated as a key managerial personnel and will become part of the company’s senior management team. His appointment remains subject to shareholder and Central Government approval, where applicable.

Banerjee brings extensive experience to the role, holding a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA in finance and strategy. With over 30 years in the ER&D and technology sectors, he has built a reputation as a distinguished leader. His career primarily spanned HCL Technologies, where he rose to the position of Corporate Vice President, overseeing the engineering business. Most recently, he served as CEO and a board member of Xoriant, a leading digital engineering firm.

Throughout his career, Banerjee has played a pivotal role in developing and expanding business lines, fostering strategic global partnerships, and driving technological advancements. His expertise covers key sectors such as communications, semiconductors, energy, transportation, automotive and mobility, as well as healthcare and life sciences. His leadership aligns closely with Cyient’s focus areas, particularly in Digital Industry 4.0 and AI/ML applications.

Cyient Chairman MM Murugappan expressed confidence in Banerjee’s leadership, stating that his experience in the ER&D and technology sectors would be instrumental in strengthening the company and accelerating its next phase of growth. He emphasized that Banerjee’s values-driven leadership would help Cyient deliver on expectations for clients, associates, and shareholders.

Executive Vice Chairman and Managing Director Krishna Bodanapu also welcomed Banerjee’s appointment, highlighting his role in driving Cyient DET through a transformative growth phase. He noted that Banerjee’s expertise in ER&D and technology services would be a significant asset as the company continues to enhance its core engineering offerings and develop technology-led intelligent engineering solutions.

Banerjee, reflecting on his new position, described the ER&D sector as being on the brink of a transformative era, where engineering and technology innovations will redefine industries. He acknowledged Cyient’s leadership in the sector, crediting its deep-rooted multi-vertical expertise. Leading a team of over 16,000 professionals, he expressed his commitment to pushing boundaries, setting new benchmarks, and steering Cyient toward greater achievements.
