Africa’s Wealthiest: Dangote Refinery Nears Full Capacity Amid Major Milestone

The Dangote Refinery, owned by Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, is expected to reach full capacity within the next 30 days, according to the refinery’s leadership.

Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited and head of its oil and gas division, reportedly stated that the facility was currently operating at 85% capacity and was on track to achieve full production within a month.

This milestone follows the refinery’s recent shipment of two cargoes of jet fuel to Saudi Aramco, marking a significant step in its operational progress. The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, recognized as Africa’s largest oil processing facility, commenced production in January 2024.

Once operating at full capacity, the $20 billion refinery is projected to produce 327,000 barrels of gasoline per day, 244,000 barrels of gasoil/diesel per day, 56,000 barrels of jet fuel/kerosene per day, and 290,000 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) annually.
