The Fresh Market Appoints Brian Johnson as New CEO, Succeeding Jason Potter
The Fresh Market, Inc. has announced the appointment of Brian Johnson as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective February 3, 2025. He will succeed Jason Potter, who has chosen to pursue a new professional opportunity. The company expressed its appreciation for Potter’s leadership and contributions over the past five years.
Johnson, who has served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at The Fresh Market since 2020, brings more than three decades of industry experience to his new role. Over the past five years, he has played a key role in expanding the company’s presence into new markets across the East Coast and the Midwest. Before joining The Fresh Market, Johnson held the position of Division Vice President at Brookshire Grocery Company in Texas.
Expressing gratitude to the Board of Directors and the team at The Fresh Market for their trust in him, Johnson remarked that the company was entering 2025 with strong momentum. He shared his eagerness to collaborate with the team to drive growth, foster innovation, and enhance customer experiences. Additionally, he conveyed his enthusiasm for working with the Board to steer the company toward becoming America’s leading specialty fresh food retailer and one of the nation’s most beloved brands.
Johnson’s senior leadership team will include Revae Embs, Group Vice President of Human Resources; Emily Turner, Group Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer; and Marcio Ribeiro, Group Vice President & Chief Information Officer. All three executives joined the senior leadership team within the past year.
