Nordnet Fonder Appoints Niklas Söderström as New CEO

Nordnet Fonder has announced the appointment of Niklas Söderström as its new Chief Executive Officer. Söderström most recently served as CEO of Ruth Asset Management, where he has worked since 2021. His career includes senior roles within the Öhman Group and experience as a portfolio manager at the Third Swedish National Pension Fund (AP3). Born in 1977, he holds a degree in economics from Stockholm University.

In a statement, Rasmus Järborg, Chief Product Officer and Deputy CEO of Nordnet, described Söderström as a strategic and inclusive leader with a strong focus on customers. Järborg highlighted Söderström’s extensive experience in managing and developing asset management firms at both Nordic and international levels, expressing confidence in his ability to lead Nordnet Fonder.

Tonika Hirdman, Chair of the Board of Nordnet Fonder, echoed Järborg’s sentiment, welcoming Söderström and emphasizing that his broad expertise and experience would bring substantial value to the fund company and its fund unit holders.

Söderström is set to succeed Carl Fredrik Lagerholm, who has been CEO of Nordnet Fonder since 2021. Lagerholm will now pursue external opportunities. Under his leadership, Nordnet Fonder achieved strong growth, launched several funds, and built a solid organizational foundation. Järborg extended his gratitude to Lagerholm on behalf of the Board, acknowledging his dedication and significant contributions.

Söderström will officially take on the role of CEO of Nordnet Fonder once his appointment is approved by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority. Reflecting on his new position, Söderström shared his enthusiasm for leading a company he described as one of the strongest brands in the savings market. He highlighted the impressive progress made by Nordnet Fonder established a robust infrastructure, and built a highly skilled team in a relatively short time. He noted that his background in asset management and banking, combined with Nordnet’s innovative platform, positions the company well for continued growth and development of its offerings for fund savers.
