Honor CEO George Zhao Steps Down, Li Jian Takes the Helm

George Zhao has stepped down from his role as CEO of Honor, effective immediately, according to reports from Chinese media. While the company has not officially commented on the reasons for Zhao’s departure, media sources suggested that health concerns may have influenced his decision.

The Honor Board of Directors has acknowledged Zhao’s resignation and announced the appointment of Li Jian as the company’s new CEO. Li, a former Huawei executive with over 20 years of experience in the mobile communications industry, brings extensive expertise to the role. His career at Huawei began in 2001, where he rose through various positions, eventually serving as a Member of the Supervisory Board before leaving the company in 2020 to join Honor in 2021.

Li Jian has held multiple leadership positions at Honor, including Vice Chairman, Director, and President of the Human Resources Department, prior to his promotion to CEO. His new role comes at a pivotal time for the company as Honor prepares to navigate the complexities of joint-stock management and an impending IPO. Li’s extensive experience in the telecommunications sector is expected to play a critical role in steering the company through its next phase of growth and development.

The brief announcement from CLS China provided no further details on Zhao’s current status or the circumstances surrounding his departure. However, with Li Jian’s appointment, Honor aims to maintain stability and continue its momentum as it moves toward a public offering.
