Criteo Appoints Michael Komasinski as New CEO, Succeeding Megan Clarken
Global commerce media company Criteo has announced the appointment of Michael Komasinski as its chief executive officer (CEO) and a member of its Board. Komasinski will take over from Megan Clarken, who is retiring from her role as CEO and stepping down from the Board. To ensure a seamless transition, Clarken will continue to serve the company in a senior advisory capacity.
Komasinski brings over 20 years of experience in AdTech and building global brand and retail relationships. His track record includes driving profitable growth through technology-driven strategies while fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
Before joining Criteo, Komasinski held multiple leadership positions at dentsu. He served as CEO of the Americas, president of global data and technology, and was a member of the group executive management team. He originally joined dentsu through its acquisition of Merkle in 2016, where he successfully led both the EMEA and Americas regions before becoming the global CEO of Merkle in 2021.
During his tenure at Dentsu, Komasinski led the technological transformation of its product offerings, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) across platforms to deliver enhanced value to clients. He also shaped dentsu’s client-facing data-driven technology strategy, which resulted in significant enterprise client wins. Additionally, his expertise in retail media was evident in his efforts to grow Merkle’s retail media consulting practice and align it with Dentsu’s media buy-side capabilities.
Earlier in his career, Komasinski oversaw more than 14,000 employees across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions at Merkle. He has also held leadership roles at Razorfish, Schawk Retail Marketing, The Nielsen Company, and A.T. Kearney. His professional contributions extend to serving as a board member of the Ad Council and on client advisory boards for Meta and Microsoft.
Rachel Picard, chair of Criteo’s Board of Directors, expressed confidence in Komasinski’s ability to lead the company forward. She highlighted his unique blend of skills, including expertise in tech-enabled product development, managing brand and retailer relationships, and scaling businesses on a global level. Picard noted that Komasinski is well-equipped to enhance Criteo’s commerce and retail media leadership, building on the foundation established during Clarken’s tenure and the efforts of the company’s dedicated team.
Komasinski shared his enthusiasm for joining Criteo, describing the company’s transformation into a global commerce media powerhouse and AdTech leader as inspiring. He emphasized his excitement about the growth opportunities driven by advancements in AI and the global rise of e-commerce, which are creating highly personalized consumer touchpoints across various content and devices. He expressed his commitment to partnering with Criteo’s talented team to deliver innovative commerce solutions for clients while driving shareholder value.
As Megan Clarken concludes her tenure, her contributions have been widely recognized for playing a critical role in Criteo’s growth and momentum. Komasinski’s appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the company, which is poised to capitalize on its strong position in commerce and retail media.
