Simon Johnson Appointed CEO of Light & Wonder’s iGaming Division
Light & Wonder has announced the promotion of Simon Johnson, previously senior vice president and international managing director, to CEO of its iGaming division. Johnson steps into the role following the departure of Dylan Slaney in November.
Johnson, who joined Light & Wonder (formerly Scientific Games) in 2017, has played a pivotal role in driving the international commercial growth of the company’s Gaming division. He was appointed interim UK managing director in April 2020, advancing to SVP and managing director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in January 2021. In September 2022, his responsibilities expanded to include Asia and New Zealand.
As CEO of iGaming, Johnson will lead the digital gaming business and become part of the company’s executive leadership team, reporting directly to Light & Wonder president and CEO Matt Wilson.
Wilson noted that Johnson’s appointment aligns with the company’s growth ambitions, emphasizing the strong leadership Johnson will bring to the iGaming division. Wilson highlighted the support of the skilled iGaming team under Johnson’s guidance as a key asset for the company’s future success.
Johnson shared his enthusiasm for the new role, expressing excitement about the opportunities ahead and his eagerness to collaborate with the global iGaming team to drive innovation and growth in the digital gaming space.
Meanwhile, shares of Light & Wonder Inc. (NASDAQ: LNW) closed slightly lower at $85.54 in New York on Thursday, with pre-market trading on Friday reflecting a 1.79% decline to $84.01.
