Trillion Energy Undergoes Leadership Transition and Strategic Expansion as Arthur Halleran Retires

Trillion Energy has announced a leadership overhaul, appointing an Interim Chief Executive Officer and strengthening its management team following the retirement of Arthur Halleran, its former CEO and Director. This transition officially began on December 27, 2024, when the board of directors accepted Halleran’s resignation. Halleran, who had been CEO since 2017 and spearheaded the development of the SASB gas field offshore Türkiye, opted to step down to retire.

The company has initiated a search for a permanent CEO, with plans to focus on scaling existing assets and pursuing new opportunities to enhance shareholder value. In the interim, Sean Stofer, Chairman of the Board of Directors, has been appointed as the Interim CEO. A University of British Columbia engineering graduate with over two decades of experience in the energy sector, Stofer has led initiatives in conventional and renewable energy, including solar, wind, and hydroelectric projects, as well as the Arctic’s largest solar array. His contributions to the industry earned him the Top 40 Under 40 award in Vancouver, Canada.

Trillion acknowledged Halleran’s contributions and emphasized the company’s commitment to a transformational year in 2025, marked by production growth and asset expansion. Stofer highlighted the company’s plans to enhance existing operations and pursue acquisitions to drive long-term growth and deliver value to shareholders.

As part of its transitional strategy, Trillion has added two key members to its leadership team. Burak Tolga Terzi has been named Vice President and Deputy General Manager, bringing extensive experience from his tenure at companies such as Valeura Energy, SOCAR, Weatherford International, and Nobel Oil Services. Terzi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Logistics.

Additionally, Scott Lower has been appointed President. Lower, a certified public accountant with a background in finance and public markets, has played a consulting role with Trillion and previously served as President of Park Place Energy, a Trillion subsidiary.

The company is also establishing an advisory board of seasoned industry veterans and plans to add two new directors as part of its broader transitional objectives for the first quarter of 2025.

On the operational front, Trillion began 2025 with activity at its Akkaya and East Ayazli platforms. The company is running string tubing into the Alapli-2 and Bayhanli-2 wells to enhance production and optimize gas flow from the SASB gas field. This work follows velocity string operations initiated in October and snubbing activities launched in November. By late December, Trillion had inserted velocity strings into four existing wells, overcoming weather-related delays. These initiatives form the second stage of the workover program aimed at revitalizing the SASB gas field and ensuring sustainable natural gas output.
