Astral Promotes Gary Arnold to the role of CEO
In August, Astral revealed that Schutte would be stepping down at the upcoming Annual General Meeting, scheduled for January 30. The company has appointed Gary Arnold to serve as CEO, effective February 1, 2025. Arnold, who has served as Chief Operating Officer and executive director since 2012, has collaborated closely with Schutte over the years. According to the company, Arnold has been a vital figure at Astral for nearly three decades.
The company noted that Arnold’s extensive expertise and deep familiarity with Astral’s integrated business model have been key factors in implementing the group’s strategic goals. The board expressed its best wishes to Arnold as he takes on his new responsibilities, emphasizing their confidence in his ability to steer Astral forward. They believe he will play a crucial role in sustaining Astral’s status as South Africa’s premier integrated poultry producer.
