Atos Names Philippe Salle as New Chairman and CEO, Succeeding Former UniCredit Executive

French IT company Atos announced on Tuesday that Philippe Salle has been appointed as the new chairman of the board, effective immediately, and will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer in February. The leadership changes come as part of a broader management reshuffle aimed at steering the troubled firm through its ongoing restructuring.

Salle, who has pledged to personally invest at least $9.8 million to support the company’s turnaround efforts, will succeed former UniCredit executive Jean-Pierre Mustier. Until Salle officially takes over as CEO, Mustier will remain in the role until January 31 to ensure a smooth and effective leadership transition while overseeing the next phases of the company’s restructuring.

Once regarded as a leading player in Europe’s software and technology industry, Atos is now facing formal restructuring proceedings as it works to regain stability. The company’s financial troubles have been stark, with its market value plummeting by more than 90% this year alone.

A key moment in Atos’ recovery plan is scheduled for later on Tuesday, when a French court is set to hold a hearing regarding an accelerated safeguard plan between the company and its creditors, which could significantly influence its path forward.
