Kering Appoints Stefano Cantino as CEO of Gucci, effective January 1, 2025
Kering has announced the appointment of Stefano Cantino as the new CEO of Gucci, effective January 1, 2025. Reporting to Francesca Bellettini, Kering’s Deputy CEO in charge of Brand Development, Cantino will also hold a seat on Kering’s Executive Committee. Cantino, who joined Gucci in May 2024 as Deputy CEO, will be succeeding Jean-François Palus.
Jean-François Palus was appointed as CEO of Gucci in July 2023, with a primary mandate to establish the foundations for the brand’s next phase and recruit key leadership talent, including his successor.
Francesca Bellettini expressed her gratitude towards Jean-François Palus for his commitment to Gucci during the transition period. She conveyed her confidence in Stefano Cantino and the Gucci team, believing they would build on the progress made over the past 15 months to restore Gucci to its rightful leadership position in the luxury market.
François-Henri Pinault, Kering’s Chairman and CEO, also thanked Palus for his leadership at Gucci during a challenging time. He recognized Palus for making bold decisions and laying a solid groundwork for Gucci’s revival. Pinault further acknowledged Palus’s long-standing collaboration with him over the past three decades, describing it as invaluable.
Stefano Cantino brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Before joining Gucci, he spent five years at Louis Vuitton, overseeing Communications and Image. Prior to that, he built a 20-year career at Prada Group, where he held senior roles in Marketing and Commercial, eventually becoming Director of Communications and Marketing. Cantino holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Turin.
Kering, a global luxury group, oversees the growth of prestigious brands in fashion, leather goods, and jewelry, including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, and others. With creativity at the core of its strategy, Kering empowers its brands to push the boundaries of creative expression while promoting sustainable and responsible luxury. In 2023, Kering employed 49,000 people and recorded revenue of $21.5 billion.
