New Leadership at Group 1 Automotive U.K. Sets the Stage for Strategic Growth

Group 1 Automotive, Inc., a leading Fortune 250 automotive retailer with a network of 260 dealerships across the U.S. and U.K., has announced the appointment of Mark Raban as the new Chief Executive Officer for its U.K. division.

Bringing over two decades of experience in automotive retail and finance, Raban will lead the integration of the recently acquired Inchcape dealerships, aiming to accelerate growth within the U.K. market. His focus will also be on enhancing customer service and strengthening the company’s partnerships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), ensuring that Group 1’s expanded brand presence is fully leveraged.

Daryl Kenningham, Group 1’s President and CEO, expressed confidence in Raban’s leadership, noting that his extensive background in the U.K. automotive industry positions him well to foster a high-performance culture and enhance customer engagement across the expanded dealership network.

Before joining Group 1, Raban served as CEO of Lookers Motor Group, where he was previously Chief Financial Officer. His earlier career included senior financial roles at major companies like Marshall Motor Holdings, Inchcape Retail, Selfridges, and Borders.

Raban, reflecting on his new position, expressed enthusiasm about joining Group 1 at a transformative time. He emphasized the opportunity to empower teams nationwide and drive both operational efficiency and customer-focused innovation, aiming to set a new benchmark for automotive retail in the U.K.

Operating in the U.K. since 2007, Group 1 now oversees 114 dealerships in the country, with a brand portfolio featuring prestigious names such as Audi, BMW/MINI, Jaguar Land Rover, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz/smart, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Globally, Group 1 runs 260 dealerships, 338 franchises, and 44 collision centers, offering 35 automotive brands across its U.S. and U.K. markets.
