Michał Bolesławski to Lead ING Poland as New CEO

ING has announced that Michał Bolesławski will take over as Chief Executive Officer of ING in Poland, succeeding Brunon Bartkiewicz when his current term ends in 2025. The news follows a prior announcement in April 2024 regarding Bartkiewicz’s planned departure from the role.

Bolesławski has been with ING for 24 years and is currently the global head of Business Banking. He began his career at ING Bank Śląski in 2006 as an executive director, overseeing the business clients division. In 2008, he advanced to vice president of the ING Bank Śląski Management Board, leading subsidiaries such as ING Commercial Finance, ING Lease, and ING Usługi dla Biznesu. Since 2021, he has overseen Business Banking for the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg, and in 2023, he became the global head of Business Banking.

Though his appointment is still pending regulatory approval, Bolesławski expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating that he is eager to join the team in Poland and build on the strong performance achieved under the leadership of Brunon Bartkiewicz and the current Executive Committee. He also committed to ensuring that the Business Banking division remains in top shape for his successor before he officially takes over in 2025.

In recent years, Bolesławski has played a key role in advancing the digitalization of processes and services in Business Banking, significantly enhancing the customer experience and driving growth both in existing and new markets.

Pinar Abay, head of Retail Banking and member of the Management Board Banking, praised Bolesławski’s appointment, highlighting that it is encouraging to see someone who has developed within ING take on the CEO role for such a significant market. She noted that his international experience and strong track record in both global and Polish markets position him well to continue the bank’s dynamic growth, strengthen its market presence, and reinforce ING as a leading brand.
