Bernard Arnault Surpasses Mark Zuckerberg as World’s Third-Richest Person Amid LVMH Share Surge

Bernard Arnault, the billionaire chairman and CEO of LVMH, has reclaimed his position as the third-richest person in the world, overtaking Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg. This shift in rankings comes as LVMH’s shares experience a multi-day surge, significantly boosting Arnault’s net worth.

As of 11:20 a.m. EDT, Arnault’s net worth reached approximately $188.6 billion, reflecting an increase of $4.54 billion (2.3%), according to Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires List. In contrast, Zuckerberg’s net worth dropped slightly to around $184.7 billion, following a decrease of about $100 million.

LVMH, the luxury conglomerate that owns brands such as Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co., saw its shares rise by 2.6% to over $675, contributing to Arnault’s financial ascent. Meanwhile, Meta’s shares dipped slightly by 0.1%, impacting Zuckerberg’s wealth.

Arnault now trails Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who holds the title of the world’s second-richest person with an estimated net worth of $195.7 billion. Elon Musk remains the wealthiest individual globally, with a staggering net worth of $247.4 billion.

Meta’s shares have increased by 52% so far this year, buoyed by a 73% jump in second-quarter profits. In contrast, LVMH’s shares have declined by 5.7% this year, despite a strong start with a 22% surge through March 22 and an 8% rise in the last five trading days.

Arnault and Musk have frequently exchanged places as the world’s third- and fourth-richest individuals in recent weeks. Zuckerberg briefly overtook Arnault on August 6, holding the third-richest spot for just over a week before being surpassed again. The top positions on Forbes’ billionaire tracker have seen multiple shifts, with Arnault previously holding the title of the world’s richest person earlier this year, before Musk reclaimed it. Bezos and Arnault have also alternated between the second-wealthiest position, including a similar back-and-forth in June.
