Hybe Promotes Jason Jaesang Lee as New CEO as Park Jiwon Resigns

Hybe has appointed its current Chief Strategy Officer, Jason Jaesang Lee, as the next CEO, succeeding Park Jiwon, who led the company for the past three years. Park’s resignation marks a significant shift in the Korean entertainment industry.

Hybe emphasized Lee’s extensive expertise in strategic planning and operations, both domestically and internationally, in their announcement. This leadership transition has been part of Hybe’s strategy since early 2024.

Joining Hybe (formerly Big Hit Entertainment) in 2018, Lee has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s business strategy and investments. His previous roles include Chief Innovation and Growth Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Operating Officer of Hybe America, and President of Hybe America.

While stepping down from his CEO role, Park will remain with Hybe in another capacity. On July 24, Park addressed the employees in a heartfelt letter, reflecting on the company’s impressive growth and outlining future plans. He explained that media reports about his future prompted him to provide clarity to avoid any confusion among employees.

Park highlighted the company’s remarkable growth over the past three years, driven by a multi-label strategy and global market entry. He acknowledged the management’s contemplation of a growth strategy for the next five years, driven by a sense of responsibility and urgency to maintain momentum.

Reflecting on Hybe’s rapid expansion and strategic planning, Park stressed the need for new leadership to propel Hybe 2.0 forward. He emphasized the necessity of fresh leadership to actively prepare for and respond to future challenges, explaining the rationale behind the CEO transition.
