PwC Canada Enhances Indigenous Reconciliation Efforts through PAR Program Commitment

PwC Canada has announced its commitment to the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) program, reinforcing its dedication to advancing Indigenous reconciliation efforts.

The PAR program, established in 2001 by the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB), aims to support progressive improvements in Indigenous relations. It evaluates performance in four key areas: Leadership Actions, Employment, Business Development, and Community Relations (Engagement and Support).

PwC Canada’s involvement in the PAR program is a crucial element of its ongoing efforts to foster mutual respect and achieve sustainable outcomes with Indigenous communities and citizens. CEO and Senior Partner Nicolas Marcoux emphasized that the firm’s purpose is to build trust in society and solve important problems, reflecting this mission in their Indigenous Reconciliation efforts. He expressed the company’s strong belief in their responsibility as a business leader to create an environment where Indigenous Peoples can thrive for generations.

As part of this initiative, PwC Canada has formed the Indigenous Reconciliation Advisory Committee (IRAC), an internal group consisting of members from various service lines and regions across Canada. The IRAC’s mandate is to advance PwC’s Indigenous Reconciliation strategy by fostering trusted, collaborative, and respectful relationships with both the PwC community and Indigenous Peoples.

PwC Canada is also dedicated to providing guidance, mentorship, and resources to support Indigenous students in reaching their full potential. Additionally, the firm has committed to supporting the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund by hosting a legacy space within their Vancouver office for a five-year period. These initiatives represent just a few of the steps PwC Canada is taking to promote Truth and Reconciliation. With over 7,000 partners and staff in offices across the country, PwC Canada is dedicated to delivering quality services in assurance, tax, consulting, and deals.
