S&P Global has announced the appointment of Martina Cheung as CEO, effective November 1. Cheung, a 14-year veteran of the company with various leadership roles, will succeed Douglas Peterson, who has served as CEO since 2013. In addition to her CEO role, Cheung will also serve as the company’s President and has been elected to the board.
Peterson will remain on the board until May 2025 and will act as a special adviser to the company until December 31, 2025. This leadership change occurs amid growing optimism that the U.S. Federal Reserve will avoid a recession and increased investor interest in analytics and data products—positive trends for S&P Global, renowned for its rating agency and stock market indexes.
Currently leading S&P Global Ratings, Cheung has driven the unit to achieve $3.3 billion in annual revenue in 2023, a 9% increase from the previous year. Her prior roles include chief strategy officer and head of the market intelligence unit. Yann Le Pallec, Executive Managing Director and Head of Global Ratings Services, will succeed Cheung as President of the ratings unit.
