Elon Musk Discusses Rapid AI Adoption and Personal Finances at Cannes Lions
During his recent visit to the Cannes Lions conference, Elon Musk highlighted the rapid spread of artificial intelligence software. In an interview with Mark Read, CEO of the large advertising agency WPP Plc, Musk covered a range of topics, including AI’s swift adoption and his personal use of funds.
Musk addressed various questions, including his controversial comments to X advertisers last November. He clarified that his frustration was directed at specific advertisers, including Disney’s CEO Bob Iger, over issues related to free speech and financial pressure.
On the topic of AI, Musk shared an anecdote involving his 19-year-old son Griffin, a student at Brown University. He asked Griffin how many of his classmates were using AI tools for writing assistance. Griffin’s response was that all of them were utilizing AI, indicating the technology’s widespread use among students. Musk did not specify whether these tools were for plagiarism checking or more advanced writing aids.
Regarding his personal finances, Musk humorously responded to a question from Read about how he spends his money. He joked about having a “big money bin” where he swims to get exercise, highlighting his lighthearted approach despite his immense wealth, currently valued at $214.1 billion.
In December, Musk predicted that within three years, AI would surpass human abilities in various tasks, from writing novels to discovering new scientific principles.
