William Huffman Appointed CEO of Nuveen
Nuveen, the investment management arm of TIAA, has appointed William Huffman as the new Chief Executive Officer. Huffman, who previously served as president of Nuveen Asset Management and head of equities and fixed income, takes over from former CEO Jose Minaya. Before joining Nuveen in 2008, Huffman was the CEO of Northern Trust Global Investments Limited for 17 years.
In his new role, Huffman will manage $1.2 trillion in assets across various sectors, including equities, fixed income, municipal bonds, multi-asset, private capital, and C-PACE financing. He will also chair Nuveen’s executive leadership team and join TIAA’s executive committee.
Huffman has been instrumental in expanding Nuveen’s assets under management from $800 billion to $1.2 trillion since TIAA acquired the firm in 2014. Thasunda Brown Duckett, CEO of TIAA, praised Huffman’s dedication to client interests and his strategic vision, which have significantly contributed to Nuveen’s growth and innovation over the past 16 years.
