Digicel Group has unveiled Leopoldo Gutierrez as its new Group Chief Financial Officer, effective from May 1, 2024. With over two decades of experience in global operations, including a distinguished tenure of 15 years with Latin America operator Tigo in various senior finance capacities, Gutierrez brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. Renowned for his adeptness in managing complexity, driving change, capitalizing on growth opportunities, and optimizing costs, Gutierrez’s appointment signals a strategic move for Digicel Group.
Hailing from El Salvador, Gutierrez has served as the VP of Finance Operations for Tigo, based in Miami, Florida, since December 2019. Prior to this, he held the position of CFO for Tigo in Colombia for seven years. His professional journey also includes financial management roles at commercial airline TACA in El Salvador and at Unilever in both El Salvador and the UK. Gutierrez holds a Bachelor of Business and Economics from the Escuela Superior de Economía y Negocios in San Salvador and an MBA from McGill University in Montreal. He will be stationed in Kingston, Jamaica.
Welcoming Gutierrez to the team, Digicel Group Chairman Rajeev Suri commended the impressive expertise of the company’s C-suite, which now includes the newly appointed Group CEO Marcelo Cataldo and the existing Group COO Maarten Boute. Suri expressed confidence in the team’s ability to lead Digicel Group into its next phase of growth while ensuring that customers and communities continue to thrive in a connected society.
