Detailed findings & methodology: The 2024 Most Influential Countries ranking is based on a global perception-based survey that includes over 320,000 experts, such as politicians and business leaders. The countries are ranked based on the highest scores among 11 attributes, which are: military power, strong international alliances, well-respected country leadership, international trade and travel, economic might, country’s culture, diplomatic influence, global diaspora, media influence, being helpful to other countries in need, and how connected those countries are to the rest of the world. The survey was conducted between January to March 2024, and each attribute was graded on a 1-100 scale.
The survey collected detailed data and information directly from 320,000 individuals across 11 data points, such as politicians, business leaders, global business executives, and policy experts. Experts were asked to rate countries on a scale of 1 “marginal” to 100 “outstanding” or “don’t know.” The margin of sampling error for the full sample of 320,000 respondents is plus or minus 1.2 percentage points. One should bear in mind that, as in all survey research, there are possible sources of error, such as coverage, nonresponse, and measurement error, that could affect the results.
