HANetf Appoints David O’Neill as EU CEO to Bolster European Presence

In a strategic move aimed at reinforcing its position across Europe, white-label ETF issuer HANetf has named David O’Neill as its EU CEO. Based in Dublin, O’Neill will spearhead the firm’s expansion efforts in Ireland and the broader EU market, succeeding Tim Darcy, who assumed the role of director of ETF operations at WisdomTree last November.

Commenting on the appointment, Hector McNeil, co-founder and co-CEO of HANetf, expressed confidence in O’Neill’s ability to drive the firm’s growth and development. “David’s wealth of experience will be invaluable to the continued growth and development of our business,” stated McNeil.

O’Neill brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as chief operating officer at HAL Fund Services Ireland for over a year and a half. In this capacity, he managed the day-to-day operations of a third-party management company offering UCITS and AIF management services.

Prior to his tenure at HAL Fund Services Ireland, O’Neill held positions of responsibility, including head of investment and fund services at the Asset Management Exchange (AMX), where he supervised investment and operational functions across various fund platforms.

With a diverse background spanning operations roles at Brookfield Renewable, AlbaCore Capital, and Knight Capital, where he served as head of European institutional trading, O’Neill brings a comprehensive skill set to his new leadership role at HANetf.

O’Neill’s appointment comes at a pivotal juncture for HANetf as it endeavors to expand its presence in Ireland and the broader EU market. The move follows the recent hiring of Michael Geister as director of DACH sales and the promotion of Andre Voinea to head of sales for Europe, underscoring the company’s commitment to strategic expansion and market penetration.
