Ben Bateman Becomes Interim Chief Executive at Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu
Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu has announced the appointment of Ben Bateman as its interim chief executive, marking the commencement of their search for a permanent CEO.
Bateman, who previously served as the Chief Operating Officer for the rūnanga, brings a wealth of executive leadership experience, including roles outside the iwi entity, such as the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Office and the NZ Defence Force.
Acknowledging the contributions of outgoing chief executive Arihia Bennett, who served the iwi for 12 years, Tipa emphasized the importance of a smooth transition as the rūnanga embarks on the search for a permanent CEO.
In a statement, Justin Tipa, Chairman of Ngāi Tahu, expressed confidence in Bateman’s leadership, citing his extensive experience and connections within the organization.
The rūnanga will focus on appointing a permanent CEO in the upcoming year, ensuring continuity and effective leadership for Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and its associated entities.
