HSBC Holdings Plc
The United Kingdom is home to several of the most important banks in Europe. Two UK-based banks – HSBC and Lloyds Banking Group – are the country’s largest banks and rank among the top 10 European banks in market capitalization. Both banks have a market capitalization above 30 billion British pounds, while the largest – HSBC – is the largest bank in Europe with a market capitalization of over 118.81 billion British pounds.  In addition, UK-based banks Lloyds and NatWest rank as the 10th and 14th largest in Europe.
HSBC has the largest number of digitally active customers, with 34.86 million, among the largest banks headquartered in the United Kingdom that reported official figures for digital or mobile app users. Lloyds Banking Group comes in second with 21.5 million digitally active customers, out of which 18.7 million use their mobile app.

    Digitally active customer base: 7 million
    Market capitalization: 458.47 million British pounds
  6. Virgin Money UK Plc
    Digitally active customer base: 4.62 million British pounds
    Market capitalization: $2.03 billion
  7. Nationwide Building Society
    Mobile app users customer base: 4.6 million British pounds
    Market capitalization: $1.41 billion
  8. AIB Group (UK) plc
    Digitally active customer base: 1.9 million
    Mobile app users customer base: 1.6 million
    Market capitalization: 9.72 billion British pounds
*Figures were rounded and collected from annual reports, press releases, and bank websites. HSBC stated that 83% of their customers were digitally active, which was used to estimate a figure.
