Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares’ Compensation Soars to $39.5 Million Amid Strong Financial Performance
In 2023, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares received total compensation amounting to $39.5 million, a significant increase from the previous year’s figure, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The filing also discloses compensation details for other key global leaders within Stellantis, including Chairman John Elkann and Vice Chairman Robert Peugeot.
Tavares’ compensation, which includes various benefits beyond salary and bonuses, stands out against the backdrop of forthcoming disclosures from other automotive giants like General Motors and Ford. The CEO’s robust compensation mirrors Stellantis’s position as a formidable player in the ever-evolving automotive landscape.
The company reported a net profit of nearly $20 billion and an adjusted operating income margin of 12.8%, positioning it as one of the top performers in the automotive industry. Stellantis, which is the parent company of Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Fiat, and other companies, boasts a diverse global portfolio.
While Tavares’ actual compensation, including cash and vested equity awards, amounted to $25.4 million, his total package included a base salary of $2.16 million, short-term incentives of $6.26 million, and long-term incentives valued at $28.3 million, among other benefits.
The filing highlights that a significant portion of the CEO’s compensation is subject to performance risk, emphasizing the company’s commitment to long-term success and sustainability, particularly amidst industry transformations driven by electrification and software technologies.
