Lufthansa Group Announces Executive Board Reshuffle to Navigate Next Phase of Corporate Development
Having steered through the challenges of the pandemic and subsequent recovery, the Lufthansa Group is set to embark on a new phase of corporate development with a reshaping of its Executive Board. This restructuring coincides with the planned departure of four current Board members.
Karl-Ludwig Kley, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, commended the outgoing Executive Board for their exceptional leadership during tumultuous times and expressed gratitude for their dedication and loyalty to the company.
Harry Hohmeister and Detlef Kayser will conclude their terms of office as scheduled this year. Additionally, Christina Foerster and Remco Steenbergen will step down from the Executive Board by mutual agreement.
During its meeting on February 22, 2024, the Lufthansa Supervisory Board made the following key appointments and resolutions:
Grazia Vittadini is appointed to the Executive Board effective July 1, 2024, as Chief Technology Officer with additional responsibility for Sustainability. The Group Finances division will have a new Chief Financial Officer, with Michael Niggemann serving as interim CFO until the appointment.
Additionally, Dieter Vranckx, currently CEO of Swiss International Air Lines, joins the Executive Board on July 1, 2024, overseeing “Global Markets and Commercial Steering Hubs.” Dieter Vranckx will assume the Deputy Chairmanship of the Board of Directors of Swiss International Air Lines upon relocating to Frankfurt. Dieter Vranckx will also assume the Deputy Chairmanship of the Board of Directors of Swiss International Air Lines upon relocating to Frankfurt, succeeding Remco Steenbergen, who will relinquish these duties upon stepping down from the Executive Board.
Kley emphasized the importance of blending international experience and diverse perspectives in navigating the challenges ahead. He underscored the need for strong teamwork to address evolving industry dynamics and expectations from stakeholders.
The reshuffle reflects Lufthansa’s commitment to adapting to changing circumstances and underscores its determination to continue leading in the aviation sector.
